Ariel was the Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the Mexican Embassies in the USA and the UK. He served as Senior Special Adviser to the Attorney-General of Mexico and as Director at the AG’s Strategic Information Analysis Unit. Previously, he was Senior International Correspondent in New York, Europe and the Middle East, for Detras de la Noticia, a leading Mexican radio and TV newscast. Then became Foreign Editor of Reforma. He is the only Mexican journalist who covered live the 9/11 attacks from New York and the 3/11 attacks from Madrid. Moutsatsos lectured for a few years at the Monterrey Institute of Technology; served in the Directorate of Institutional Relations at the Club of Madrid and was the founding CEO of a strategic communications firm.
His commentaries and articles have been featured on CNN, CNN en español, BBC, TVC, W radio, Radio Fórmula, Noticias MVS, El Financiero Bloomberg TV, El Universal and Excélsior among others.
He is a member of Chatham House, the Mexican Council of International Affairs, the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists among others.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the Monterrey Institute of Technology, and a Master’s degree on International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid. He's done other studies at the London School of Economics, Université de la Sorbonne Paris IV, the CIDE and at some justice and law enforcement agencies in the U. S.
Ariel is Mexican of Greek descent and lives in Washington DC.
