Arturo Lopez Levy
Lecturer and PhD in International Studies
Dr. Arturo Lopez Levy is a Lecturer at the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley. Lopez Levy has taught different courses about American politics, Comparative Politics, Problems of International Relations, and Latin American Politics at the University of Denver, the University of Colorado in Boulder and the Colorado School of Mines. He has a PhD in international affairs and masters degrees in International Affairs from Columbia University, NYC and Economics from Carleton University, Ottawa. He also graduated from Cuba's Higher Institute of International Relations (Diplomatic Academy).
He is a consultant for the New America foundation and the Inter-American Dialogue about Cuba and American policy towards Latin America. In Cuba, before his emigration to the United States, in 2001, Lopez Levy worked as political analyst for the Cuban government between 1992 and 1994, when he resigned his position. Between 1999 and 2001, Lopez Levy was Secretary of the Bnai- Brith lodge of the Cuban Jewish Community. His doctoral dissertation discusses Cuba's foreign policy, political liberalization and economic reform.
