Bogaletch Gebre, King Baudouin Prize Winner

Boge, as her friends call her, is an Ethiopian women’s rights activist who went from being a victim of Female Genital Mutilation to being a leader in ending the practice. Indeed, she lowered incidences of the practice where she worked in just ten years from nearly 100% to less than 3%. Her success led UNICEF to suggest that her approach be replicated across Africa.
