Dan Hamilton

Professor at Johns Hopkins University, directer of the Center for Transatlantic Relations

Dan Hamilton is the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Professor and Director of the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. He also serves as Executive Director of the American Consortium for European Union Studies. He has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, and Associate Director of the Secretary of State's Policy Planning Staff. He has served as a consultant and advisory board member of different companies, think tanks and international journals, including as host of The Washington Post/Newsweek International’s online discussion feature Next Europe. Recent publications include The Transatlantic Economy 2013; Europe's Economic Crisis; Transatlantic 2020: A Tale of Four Futures; Europe 2020: Competitive or Complacent?; Alliance Reborn: An Atlantic Compact for the 21st Century by the Washington NATO Project; and Transatlantic Homeland Security.
