Daniel Rutherford

Marine and Aviation Program Director, International Council on Clean Transportation

Daniel Rutherford is the Marine and Aviation Program Director at the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT). In that capacity, he acts as the ICCT’s chief representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on policies to reduce conventional pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions from oceangoing vessels and commercial aircraft. He contributes to work on light and heavy-duty vehicle efficiency as ICCT's Japan lead, and has co-authored technical reports and peer-reviewed journal articles on aircraft and airline efficiency, emission control policies for heavy-duty vehicles, and global passenger vehicle efficiency standards. He holds a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota at Morris and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University.
