Danilo Türk, professor of international law and diplomat, was the third president of the Republic of Slovenia (2007-2012). He had served as Ambassador of Slovenia to the UN in New York (1992-2000) and later as UN's Assistant Secretary - General for political affairs (2000-2005). Today he is candidate for the post of the UN Secretary - General.
