Daria Burke

Founder and CEO, Black MBA Women

Daria Burke is the Founder and CEO of Black MBA Women, the first diversified media platform that delivers content, community and career development for black women from top-tier business schools. Ms. Burke recently launched an original series, Conversations in the C-Suite, where she spotlights black President and C-level women.

Ms. Burke was one of the 10 founding members of Rent the Runway, an online fashion start-up, where she led Consumer Insights, Marketing Partnerships and Designer Relations, resulting in the launch of two new revenue streams for the company.

Most recently, Ms. Burke served as the Director of Makeup Marketing for the Estée Lauder brand where she led strategy, budget, market plan development and new product launches for the $300MM makeup category in North America (U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico). She also has worked in brand management at L’Oreal USA on the Lancôme and Yves Saint Laurent Beaute brands, developing and implementing strategic brand positioning of the makeup and fragrance categories.

Prior to her MBA studies, Ms. Burke worked in local and international marketing and business development for the architecture and interior design industry. During this time, Ms. Burke led design teams to secure engagements in higher education, corporate interiors, and government sectors.

Ms. Burke is frequently invited to speak to both undergraduate and MBA students on the fashion and beauty industries, marketing and brand management, career development and entrepreneurship at Harvard, Columbia, Brown, and New York University. She is also a contributing writer for Levo League and Top MBA Connect.

Ms. Burke earned her MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, where she specialized in Marketing and Strategy. At Stern Ms. Burke was Co-President of the Luxury and Retail Club, initiating the launch of the Stern Luxury Marketing specialization. She was awarded a Stern School Service Award and was a President’s Service Award nominee. Ms. Burke received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Michigan.

Ms. Burke sits on the Stern Alumni Council and serves as Chair of the Association of Hispanic and Black Business Students (AHBBS) Alumni Group. Ms. Burke is a member of Cosmetic Executive Women and the Step Up Women’s Network in New York.
