Founder & Executive Director
David Levitus is interested in building movements, organizations, and technologies that move millions of people to fight for democracy and a just, sustainable world.
He is the Founding Executive Director of LA Forward. LA Forward unites a rising generation with organizers and policy experts who have been in the trenches for years, building a powerful movement for a just, inclusive, and sustainable world, starting in LA.
David earned a PhD in History at the University of Southern California and is preparing his manuscript, “The Progressive Dilemma,” for publication. His essay, "All Policy, No Power" on Democrats' failure to build political power for the long-haul was published in the LA Review of Books in early 2017.
He is a long-time member of the Liberty Hill Foundation's Change LA Planning and Host Committees. And for almost 3 years, he directed the affordable housing/transit-oriented development campaign of LA Voice, playing a key role in strategy and execution for the ACT-LA coalition's advocacy and policy work. Until recently, he served on the West LA-Sawtelle Neighborhood Council.
He's grateful to be part of the 2016 Ashoka Emerging Social Innovator cohort.
