David Levitus

David Levitus is interested in building movements, organizations, and technologies that move millions of people to fight for democracy and a just, sustainable world. He is the Founding Executive Director of LA Forward. LA Forward unites a rising generation with organizers and policy experts who have been in the trenches for years, building a powerful movement for a just, inclusive, and sustainable world, starting in LA. David earned a PhD in History at the University of Southern California and is preparing his manuscript, “The Progressive Dilemma,” for publication. His essay, "All Policy, No Power"​ on Democrats'​ failure to build political power for the long-haul was published in the LA Review of Books in early 2017. He is a long-time member of the Liberty Hill Foundation's Change LA Planning and Host Committees. And for almost 3 years, he directed the affordable housing/transit-oriented development campaign of LA Voice, playing a key role in strategy and execution for the ACT-LA coalition's advocacy and policy work. Until recently, he served on the West LA-Sawtelle Neighborhood Council. He's grateful to be part of the 2016 Ashoka Emerging Social Innovator cohort.
