DeAndra Yates is first a mother, then an educator and public speaker. Over three years ago her life changed upside down when a stray bullet pierced the back of her sons head, at the tender age of 13. Although he survived and continues to defy odds, he is now labeled a non verbal quadriplegic... It took sometime for Ms. Yates to come to grips that her athletic, tall, dark, and handsome son was now not only disabled but had diminished cognitive abilities. This is a new road and it has been quite a journey that DeAndra and her family have decided to embrace.
