Debbie Seltzer-Kelly is a lecturer and the Director of Forensics (as in, coaching the speech and debate team – not criminal forensics like on C.S.I.) at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history, and a Ph.D. in curriculum studies. As a public school educator, Debbie taught high school history and middle school speech and debate and drama. She now teaches an arts and humanities course and an education seminar at UNR, in addition to coaching the competitive speech and debate team. While her previous writing has been for professional journals in the field of education, this blog acts on her belief that broad democratic discourse on the subject of education is long overdue!
