Derrick K. Baker
For nearly 20 years, Derrick K. Baker wrote a weekly general interest opinion column titled "The Way I See It" published in N’DIGO, once the leading weekly publication for African Americans in Chicago.
A colorful and contemporary writer who writes from the perspective of an urban black man, Baker earned a following for his caustic observations and blunt assessments on a host of topics and current events, including race relations, politics, urban affairs, and dating and relationships.
An award-winning speech and annual report writer, Baker also is principal of DKB & Associates Ltd, a public relations and marketing communications consultancy with a past and current client roster of non-profit, municipal, executive and small business clients.
He holds a MS in journalism from Roosevelt University and a BA in journalism and mass communication from Drake University.
