D.J. Grothe

D.J. Grothe serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Science and Human Values, and has lectured widely on topics at the intersection of education, science and belief at universities such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and dozens of others. Formerly President and CEO of The James Randi Educational Foundation, and Vice President at the Center for Inquiry before that, he was also once a professional magician, and has special interests in the psychology of belief and processes of deception and self-deception. He has hosted the radio show and podcast For Good Reason, prior to which he hosted over 200 episodes of the celebrated interview program Point of Inquiry, which he and his partner Thomas Donnelly created in 2005. He's also an associate editor of Skeptical Inquirer magazine, and edited the book On the Beauty of Science, about the life and work of mathematician and Nobel Laureate Herbert Hauptmann.
