Cristián Samper

President and CEO, Wildlife Conservation Society

Dr. Cristián Samper, a tropical biologist and an international authority on conservation biology and environmental policy, is president and chief operating officer of WCS, the Wildlife Conservation Society. WCS works to save wildlife and wild places around the globe by harnessing the power of its four zoos and aquarium in New York City (including the Bronx Zoo) with its field conservation programs in nearly 60 nations and in all the world’s oceans. Dr. Samper joined WCS in August 2012, after serving for a decade as Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History, the world’s largest natural history collection.
