Dr. Jon C. Henderson

Underwater archaeologist

Dr. Jon C. Henderson is an associate professor at the Underwater Archaeology Research Center at the University of Nottingham. He is an underwater archaeologist with specific research interests in submerged prehistoric settlements. Dr. Henderson has extensive experience of underwater operations involving monitoring, survey and excavation with a particular expertise in the study of freshwater lake dwellings. Dr. Henderson has supervised and directed underwater projects in the UK, Poland, Greece and Malaysia. His research on the investigation and excavation of lake dwellings in Scotland, funded by Historic Scotland, led to the formation of the Underwater Archaeology Research Centre at the University in 2004. He currently serves as the British Director of the Pavlopetri Underwater Archaeology Project, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and is a Member of the Institute of Field Archaeologists.
