Outdoor enthusiast who spends his days at Google and nights in a tent

I grew up in Northern, New Jersey where I enjoyed a somewhat idyllic middle class upbringing before making a four year home of Dartmouth College and the White Mountains. After college, I moved back to the Tri-State area and tried to convince myself I'd be happy living in Manhattan working in Finance. It took a bit longer than it should have to finally admit to myself I actually hated working for one of the big banks and then one of the big consulting firms, but I got out just in time. In 2013, I quit my job in Finance and decided to "thru-hike" the entire Appalachian Trail. I can't promise I knew exactly how my quickly my life would change standing there that blustery March day at the Southern terminus of the "AT". However, the decision to walk more than 2100 miles in a meandering, northernly direction ended up being the best choice I've ever made in my life. After completing the Appalachian Trail I moved out to San Francisco to work for Google and figure out just exactly what makes the Bay Area such an expensive place to live. While I may not have answered that specific question yet, I enjoy my job and colleagues more than I ever have and live with my fiancee in an apartment in the Russian Hill neighborhood.
