Edward Stein is Vice Dean, Professor of Law and -Director of the Program in Family Law, Policy, and Bioethics at the Cardozo School of Law in New York City. He is the author of The Mismeasure of Desire: The Science, Theory and Ethics of Sexual Orientation and Without Good Reason: The Rationality Debate in Philosophy and Cognitive Science both published by Oxford University Press as well as the editor of Forms of Desire: Sexual Orientation and the Social Constructionist Controversy. He has also written numerous articles, chapters, and essays on topics relating to sexual orientation, family law, ethics, philosophy, science, evolution, cognitive science, bioethics, and lesbian and gay studies. He previously was a professor of philosophy at NYU and Yale University, among other schools, and a law clerk for a federal appeals court judge. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from M.I.T. and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
