Elena Paravantes is a Greek-American Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, and writer specializing in the Mediterranean Diet. Active in the field of food and nutrition for over 15 years, she is the founder of Olive Tomato where she discusses the Mediterranean diet and Greek diet and shows how you can incorporate Greek and Mediterranean ingredients and recipes to your diet, providing trusted information, right from the source; Athens, Greece!
She has been quoted in several international publications including Men’s Health, Prevention, Todays Dietitian and Women’s Health. Elena established the food and nutrition sections for the Greek editions of Men’s Health and Prevention as Food & Nutrition Editor. She also researched, planned, organized and implemented the food program for Starbucks Greece, as their first Food & Beverage Director, incorporating Greek and US food items into the brand’s menu.
An active member of several international nutrition organizations, Elena is currently Health Editor for Olive Oil Times, she is on the Board of Directors of the American Overseas Dietetic Association as President-Elect. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (former American Dietetic Association), The Food and Culinary Professionals Dietetic Practice Group, The Hellenic Dietetic Association, and the Hellenic Federation of Dietitians-Nutritionists.
Based in Athens, Greece, Elena lives with her French-American husband and her two sons.
