Esther Muiruri is a graduate student of environmental planning and management at the University of Nairobi focusing on environmental disasters. She has more than four years’ experience in humanitarian action with Kenya Red Cross Society, responding to both natural and manmade disasters. She has strong experience in youth engagement at local, national, regional and global levels. Esther currently serves as the Nairobi county youth chairperson at the Kenya Red Cross Society, and as one of the Global Youth Focal Points for the World Humanitarian Summit process. She has been engaged in the WHS process since early 2015, and has been working closely with young people across the world in coordinating youth priorities in the humanitarian action. Esther was recognised in 2015 as a Volunteer for Humanity by the Kenya Red Cross Society and as an Emerging Community Champion by UN Habitat in 2016. She serves with both UN Major Group for Children and Youth and the Kenya Red Cross Society.
