Federiga Bindi

Prof. Federiga Bindi is Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where she founded the European Center, which was awarded as “EU Center of Excellence” by the European Commission. She is also holds the Dan German Distinguished Visiting Chair at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

Prof. Bindi has been a Visiting Fellow in a number of prestigious international institutions, among which the Brookings Institution, the Institute d’Études Politiques in Paris, the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, the University of Lisbon and the Université Libre de Bruxelles. currently she is a Senior Fellow at SAIS Johns Hopkins University and and as Director of the Foreign Policy Initiative at the Institute for Women Policy Research in Washington DC.

Prof. Bindi is a skilled grant-maker and fundraiser and has served as P.I. for over 60 international research networks, outreach grants, students’ international mobility grants, Aid projects and individual fellowships and grants.

Prof. Bindi also held several senior policy and management appointments among which Fellow at the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (2012), Senior Advisor to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs (2008-2011), Acting Director of International Affairs and Director of International Training at the National School of Administration (2010-12), Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels (2012-2014). Prof. Bindi also served as an advisor to the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, UNIDO, the WB and other international organizations. She also served as a board member of a number of professional organizations and NGOs.

Professor Bindi is active promoting women leadership in International Relations and Foreign Policy.

Prof. Bindi has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the European University Institute, a M.A. in Comparative Politics from the University of Florence, a Certificat d’Études Politiques from Sc.Po., Paris. She also studied in Norway and Portugal. Prof. Bindi is fluent in six languages (English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Norwegian).
