Ford Foundation Professor of the Practice of International Education and Director of Global Education Innovation Initiative and of the International Education Policy Program at Harvard University. An expert in Global Education Policy and Educational Innovation, his research and teaching focus on how to help children and youth develop the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.

He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, of the US Commission for UNESCO and works with policy makers in the United States, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Education and a member of numerous boards of education organizations.
