Gursimran Sandhu

Filmmaker

Born and raised in Southern California, Gursimran has always been enthralled by the entertainment industry. Inspired by Italian neo-realism and the natural aesthetic, she strives to tell stories that reveal the layers behind what people do. After earning her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, she began working at Cartoon Network Studios. A year and a half later, she entered the Conservatory Program at Chapman University. While pursuing an M.F.A. in Film Directing, Gursimran was mentored by Oscar-winning screenwriter David Ward. She wrote and directed her graduate thesis film “Homecoming,” which went on to screen in over 45 festivals and was a finalist for the Director’s Guild of America Student Award. Having spent time at "Law & Order," Warner Bros., Black Entertainment Television, Universal Pictures and Creative Artists Agency, Gursimran now works as a writer’s assistant in television and is in early pre-production for her first feature film.
