Community engagement professional, educator, writer, and grief-work facilitator
Heather has been a “professional Jew” since 2008. She is the Springboard Fellowship Manager for Hillel International and the Assistant Director for Milton Marks Neuro-Oncology Family Camp. Heather has also worked as a Jewish engagement and programming director for Hillel at both UC Santa Cruz and Stanford University. At Stanford, she was the director of Camp Kesem, a year-round community and week-long summer camp for the children of cancer patients. In her spare time she volunteers as a counselor and grief group facilitator for children and teens facing parent loss and long-term parent illness. Heather holds BA’s in creative writing and history as well as an MA in history from UC Santa Cruz, and a graduate certificate in Jewish education from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion. She is a current rabbinical student in the ALEPH Ordination Program. Her work has appeared in the Santa Cruz Good Times Weekly, and she has performed her creative pieces on stage and on live radio.
