Hervé Ladsous
Under-Secretary-General, United Nations Peacekeeping Operations

Hervé Ladsous is the Under-Secretary-General for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. He heads the Department of Peacekeeping Operations which provides political and executive direction to UN Peacekeeping operations around the world and maintains contact with the Security Council, troop and financial contributors, and parties to the conflict in the implementation of Security Council mandates.

Mr. Ladsous has extensive experience in the diplomatic field. He was Ambassador of France to the People’s Republic of China, as well as Chief of Staff (Directeur de Cabinet) for the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. Mr. Ladsous has also served as the French Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna, and Ambassador of France to Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
