HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein

During sixteen years as a leader in international football, Prince Ali has been a consistent advocate for the players and fans who truly make football the world’s game. A trailblazer on the need for FIFA to focus on global development, transparency and good governance, Prince Ali was the sole candidate to stand against long-time FIFA President Sepp Blatter in elections earlier this year, garnering 73 votes.

Today, as the only presidential candidate who can deliver true reform in next February’s FIFA elections, his messages of development and support for football across the world continue to resonate with football’s full range of stakeholders - national associations, clubs, leagues, players, fans, sponsors and broadcasters.

In 2011, Prince Ali was elected by the Asian Football Confederation to represent the region as the youngest-ever FIFA Vice President, with the mandate to bring about change in the way the game is managed at the top. His experiences as a member of FIFA’s executive committee, for four years until he stood down in May 2015, convinced him that the organisation needed a different leadership culture and a stronger focus on accountability, transparency and the development of football worldwide.

First named President of the Jordan Football Association in 1999, Prince Ali has worked tirelessly to promote harmony and develop the sport throughout the region, placing a particular emphasis on youth and women’s football. Jordan’s national football teams have made great strides under his stewardship, while his focus on youth programmes and football community centres have promoted educational and cultural opportunities for players of all ages.

A strong believer in the unifying value of football, in 2000 Prince Ali founded the West Asian Football Federation. As President of the WAFF, he has expanded the number of members in the organisation while overseeing and expanding international competitions for both men and women.
