JK Russ

Artist and Curator

After graduating with a BVA from MIT Faculty of Creative Arts in Auckland, New Zealand, JK Russ relocated to Las Vegas in 2010. With an interest in performance, gender and sexuality, Russ creates collage and video works blending sexual commodity with eco-tourism. Her work has been described as “absorbing the awe of the desert and its sculptural rock formations and creatures, along with her observations of the sexually charged casino culture, built on fantasy and illusion.” Recently Russ has extended her practice to create large-scale audience-participation collage installations, as seen at the Life is Beautiful festival and the P3Studio artist residency at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. She was the inaugural featured artist for VEGAS magazine’s Art of the City edition and exhibited in ‘Kveck, Russ & Stellmon: Break Ups & Tear Downs’ at the UNLV Barrick Museum of Art and the Nevada Museum of Art's 'Tilting the Basin: Contemporary Art of Nevada". http://www.jkruss.com
