Iyad El-Baghdadi
Writer; Arab Spring activist

Iyad El-Baghdadi is a writer, business consultant and Arab Spring activist. Born and raised in the Arab world, he was forcibly exiled by the United Arab Emirates in 2014 for his pro-democracy activism. He now lives in Norway as a political refugee.

Iyad's work is focused on what he calls "the indigenization of liberty" in the Arab world; when he's not being mistaken for the leader of ISIS, he is researching radicalization and working on "The Arab Spring Manifesto," in which he details his vision for an Islamic libertarianism.
