Jack Layton

Leader of Canada's New Democratic Party

Federal New Democrat Leader, Jack Layton has devoted more than two decades of public service to Canada. He has been a city councillor, a respected scholar, the president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the chair of the Toronto Board of Health, an author and a small business owner.
After becoming leader of Canada's New Democrats in 2003, he made progressive politics a main feature in Ottawa, fighting for the protection of Health Care, the Environment and jobs. The result has been an expanded party base, millions more votes and record high election of MPs. Jack Layton and New Democrats stand ready to take their message of fairness for working and middle class families to Parliament and stand up for everyday Canadians.
