Jae Berman, MS, RD, CSSD

Registered Dietitian, behavior change specialist and fitness trainer. Promoting real food, living mindfully and creating sustainable habits.

Jae's diverse background and extensive education in nutrition and exercise provide her with the unique ability to implement simple strategies and useful tools to create powerful results. Jae Berman Nutrition is her private practice in San Francisco where she is a nutrition counselor, public speaker and writer. She is also part of the research team at Stanford University working on the largest single site weight loss study, comparing low carbohydrate to low fat diets. In addition, Jae is a Certified Specialist Sports Dietitian and works as the sports dietitian at University of San Francisco. She is a certified ACSM Exercise Physiologist and has been a personal trainer, yoga teacher and Pilates instructor for ten years. Her specialties include nutrition for weight loss, wellness, sports nutrition, cardiovascular nutrition, digestive disorders, eating disorders and blood glucose control.

Over the years, Jae has become increasingly interested in exploring how one can create true sustainable change with their eating plan. As opposed to feeling “good” or “bad” or being “on a diet” or “off a diet” what if individuals could simply eat real food, take care of themselves and create mindful behaviors, so they never felt deprived or guilty about food and health? Jae’s passion is supporting individuals to find that balance and peace with food. She began by examining nutrition as its fundamental, scientific base, to learn more about how nutrition actually works and to understand the nuances and facts around fad diets, urban myths, agribusiness and other societal influences. Jae uses her expertise to motivate people to use nutrition to maximize their metabolism and reach their full potential. Her programs create a positive relationship between her clients and their food, and therefore a positive relationship with their bodies and mind. Jae earned a Master's degree in Applied Physiology and Nutrition from Columbia University and completed her dietetic internship at UCSF Medical Center.
