James Herrera is the physical health and wellness director for Wounded Warrior Project. He is an exercise physiologist, professional coach, and founder of Performance Driven, a company focusing on athletic performance and executive health and wellness. James holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he also served as instructor in the department of Exercise Science and Professional and Continuing Education. His content, programs, and training tips have been featured in Bicycling, Cycle Sport, Adventure Sports, Velo News, Women’s Health, Better Homes and Gardens, Fortune Small Business, Every Women’s Guide to Cycling, Ride Your Way Lean, and Get Fast! He is an international presenter, and served as an adjunct faculty member with the Center for Creative Leadership. In 2011, James was selected as the US Olympic Committee’s Coach of the Year for cycling. He was the US National Team Coach for USA Cycling BMX, and coached at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He has enjoyed coaching numerous world-class athletes and executives from around the globe. James trains in a variety of cycling disciplines, ultra trail-running, Olympic weightlifting, surfing, rock and ice climbing, and a number of other outdoor pastimes. He also holds black belt ranks in a number of martial arts.
