Jeff Kravitz is a Los Angeles-based celebrity photographer who covers the entertainment and music scene worldwide. He has over 300,000 searchable images on Getty Images websites, including FilmMagic.com, which he started in 1984 when he was a student at Temple University.
Kravitz was born in Atlantic City in 1962, graduated with a BA in Communications from Temple University in 1986. Shortly thereafter he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his love of photography. His first job was as a payroll accountant at Paramount Pictures. He would take his camera out at night to rock concerts, parties, and premieres to photograph the Hollywood scene.
In 1988 Kravitz quit Paramount and started shooting entertainment events full time. Over the years, his clientele has included MTV, HBO, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, US Weekly and to name a few.
Kravitz photographs Hollywood’s biggest movie premieres, award shows and events of all kinds, from the Super Bowl to the Oscars - and travels to Europe every year for the MTV European Music Awards. He has photographed thousands of celebrities over the years.
His photos have been featured in countless magazines, websites and TV shows for years. Books about Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia and MTV all feature his images, as do CDs by Trey Anastasio, Phish, Dramarama, Richard Cheese and Bonnaroo Music Festival.
Kravitz has been interviewed on ABC’s Nightline, Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine, US Magazine, Rolling Stone, and the Press of Atlantic City.
Additionally, he’s been featured in various documentaries about the Bonnaroo Music Festival, an event that he has been photographing since it began in 2001. He was also featured on the A&E Documentary ‘One Shot’ which followed celebrity photographers at work.
