Jennifer J. Freyd, PhD, is a researcher, author, educator, and activist. She holds advising and research meetings on walks around beautiful Eugene, Oregon where she is a professor of psychology at the University of Oregon. Freyd and her students have researched many aspects of betrayal and psychological trauma and they have developed betrayal trauma theory. Freyd and students also investigate institutional betrayal and institutional courage –these are topics of her research and also what happens. Freyd received her BA in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and PhD in Psychology from Stanford University. She is the author of the Harvard Press award-winning book Betrayal Trauma: The Logic of Forgetting Childhood Abuse. Her book Blind to Betrayal, co-authored with Pamela J. Birrell, was published in 2013, with seven additional translations. Freyd won a twist contest in 2nd grade and she has some other awards (listed at http://dynamic.uoregon.edu/jjf/vita.html.) Freyd currently serves as the Editor of the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation.
