Writer and strategist
John Lumea is a writer and strategist living in San Francisco, Calif. He publishes Horizonr, a Web journal of occasional essays, where he writes about politics and architecture. His work has appeared in the New York Observer, and has been written up in the New York Times, Salon, and New York Magazine, and on design-related sites including Design Observer, Archinect and Curbed.
From October 2010 until January 2012, Lumea was a member and lead writer of the Principles and Purpose Working Group. In conversation with nearly 2,000 of their fellow citizens, this Group consensus-developed a series of "Draft Guiding Statements for a Community Convening a Democracy Movement for the United States." These draft Statements are the starting point of Citizen Now, a new project of open-source visioning for a U.S. democracy movement.
