Justin Byworth has worked in international development for over 20 years with international children’s charity World Vision
Justin has worked in international development for over 20 years with international children’s charity World Vision in a wide range of roles in Asia, Africa and the UK. He is currently Chief Executive for World Vision UK overseeing strategy, direction and performance towards their mission of ‘inspiring the UK to action to transform the lives of the world’s poorest children’. World Vision UK is a significant member of the global World Vision Partnership, the world’s largest private humanitarian, development and advocacy organisation with unparalleled grassroots presence and global reach in 96 countries.
Justin was previously International Programmes Director at WVUK, where he oversaw relations with partners, government and funding and technical support to humanitarian and development programmes worldwide. Justin spent eight years in Cambodia managing humanitarian and development programmes, including four years as World Vision’s National Director there. This followed previous roles in Mauritania and supporting partners in India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. After Cambodia, Justin worked with World Vision International on Development policy, programmes, monitoring and evaluation. Justin’s areas of interest and expertise include leadership and Organisational Development, faith and development, and the effectiveness and accountability of humanitarian and development programmes.
A graduate in ecology from University College, London and a published writer, Justin is married to Mischka, (a psychotherapeutic counsellor at Oxford University) with four children (Caitlin & Joshua young adults, Maia 12, and Luke 9) and lives near Oxford. He is an active member of his local church, keen mountain walker, runner and football supporter.
