Kari Krome

Co-founder and songwriter of The Runaways

Kari Krome is a writer, lyricist, performance artist and poet-vocalist. Considered a child prodigy, Krome signed a songwriting contract on her 14th birthday with producer, the late Kim Fowley. She became known as the brainchild behind the Runaways by pitching the idea of an 'all-girl New York Dolls' which gave birth to the band. Krome penned many of their songs, including "California Paradise", "Thunder", "Waiting for the Night", "Secrets", "Switchblade Music" and "Yesterday's Kids." She is credited in The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock and Roll.

Krome has a special fondness for Glam and Punk. Her work has been featured and acknowledged in books, magazines, chapbooks and fanzines. She can be seen in the film Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways and various music videos.

She worked as a reporter while living in New York City and upon returning to Los Angeles, she began work on a post-punk EP, as well as her memoirs titled "Kari Krome is Teenage Frankenstein."
