Katharina Harf

After losing her mother to a blood cancer as a child, Katharina Harf and her father were determined to grow the bone marrow registry to provide more patients the opportunity to find a suitable donor; this led to founding DKMS in Europe in 1991 and eventually Delete Blood Cancer DKMS in the U.S. in 2004. What began as a small organization has grown into the world’s largest non-profit bone marrow donor center committed to building a critical mass of suitable bone marrow donors to offer second chances at life for people in need of a match. Ms. Harf continues to be closely involved in the organization, working with patients and their families and tirelessly raising funds to continue the mission. Ms. Harf graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in Philosophy.
