Gender Equality Activist, White House Nominated Global Changemaker

Katherine J. Wynne is a leading young professional in the financial sector and gender equality advocacy. Having worked for a Fortune 500 company with the top-ranked group in Washington, DC, Katherine actively serves her community in both the private and civil society sectors. This year, the White House nominated Katherine as a Global Changemaker at the inaugural United State of Women Summit. Katherine serves on steering committees for multiple international nonprofits including: the Young Humanitarians Circle Steering Committee for Refugees International, the Young Executives for Success Steering Committee for Dress for Success, the Advocacy Committee of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area, and the UN Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development’s Working Group on Youth & Gender Equality (UN IANYD). Most recently, Katherine served on the UN IANYD’s Task Force and Declaration Committees to inaugurate the UN Youth Forum for the Commission on the Status of Women. Working under umbrella of UN Women, the Youth Forum acts as the official conduit for youth and gender-equality advocacy to the highest levels of the Commission and its member-state representatives. Prior to her work on the UN IANYD Task Force, Katherine was selected to attend the United Nations Youth Assembly (UN YA) as a Youth Delegate. UN YA is a unique platform created to foster dialogue and generate partnerships between exceptional youth, UN high officials and staff, private sector, and civil society. The Winter 2016 edition focused on the role of youth leaders and professionals in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Katherine is a distinguished alumna of The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, having graduated magna cum laude in International Economics. While completing her studies, Katherine was afforded the opportunity to serve her country in the public sector as a Junior Policy Analyst for Canada’s Permanent Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS). In this highly competitive internship, she drew policy recommendations and provided intelligence on drug trafficking, trade and economics, defense and security, and global development. She presented her research and analysis dossiers to the Privy Council Office, the Canadian Ambassador to the OAS, and representatives from the Embassy of France. Katherine’s internships also include the US House of Representatives and Refugees International.
