Kelsey Bain

Writer and creator of NOLAfeminizer.com

I grew up in Oregon, the second youngest of six with two born again hippies for parents. I then moved down to New Orleans for undergrad at Tulane University where I graduated with a major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2012. I've been bouncing around New Orleans since then and am currently in the process of applying to law schools.

In undergrad I really discovered a passion for both the environment and, as evidenced by the blog, feminism. I've worked on various wildlife and environmental projects from helping with cleanup on the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill through the Audubon Institute to a study on western bluebirds for UC Berkeley. I wrote for Feminspire.com for a spell after graduating from Tulane, and I started NOLAfeminizer somewhat on a whim last January after feeling a lack of cohesion amongst the feminist community in New Orleans.

I am a huge nerd. I love birding on the weekends -- Louisiana is perfect for it. I also enjoy cycling and running (I'm training for a marathon in February because I am a sadist). I have an Australian Shepherd mix named Hutch and two cats –- Faulkner and Bird.
