Raised by alligators abandoned to the sewers of Brooklyn by elderly Jewish tourists returning from Florida vacations, Ken White has been working for humane organizations since 1978. President of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in San Mateo, CA (just south of San Francisco), PHS/SPCA is an open admission shelter which annually saves the lives of approximately 6,500 animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles and birds (from finches to cockatoos) and other nontraditional/exotic animals kept as pets, farmed animals, as well as injured and orphaned native wildlife from San Francisco, San Mateo and the northern half of Santa Clara Counties.
