Laura Brown, PhD, is the author of the Amazon #1 best seller How to Write Anything: A Complete Guide (W. W. Norton, 2014). Laura has over 25 years' experience providing customized coaching and training in business writing. Her expertise also includes e-learning development, as well as audio, video, and webinar training for business. Laura's clients have included Citigroup, DHL, Prudential Insurance, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, AOL Time Warner, Warburg Pincus, MetLife, Booz Allen Hamilton, Dun & Bradstreet, Interbrand, Columbia Business School, the New York Police Department, CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, among others. Laura has been active in e-learning since 1999, when she worked on a series of online business writing courses for Columbia Interactive. She has developed e-learning modules for a wide variety of clients, including Citigroup and a number of major global consulting firms. She has special expertise in working with clients who are not native English speakers and specializes in helping executives from other countries adapt to American business writing conventions. She served for three years as English Communication Advisor for the Wharton School’s Global Chinese Business Initiative. She has also worked with global companies developing programs to facilitate communication between their US and India employees. Laura also has an extensive background as a business writer, including white papers, case studies, articles, and Web content. She has worked as a ghostwriter and collaborator on business books on topics including marketing, management, e-commerce, and commercial real estate. She has also taught writing and literature at Columbia University and business and technical writing at Iona College. Laura holds an MA in Drama from the University of London and a PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
