Lisa Xia

Lisa is an avid global traveler with a special interest in eco- and adventure tourism; community investment and global development; and the nexus of business and social impact. She has visited more than 40 countries and has lived and worked in China, France and the United States.

Lisa works in corporate social responsibility and sustainability, where she specializes in consulting, strategy building, communications and program development for Fortune 500s and top NGOs. She has a background in marketing communications, public affairs and international government relations, formerly serving as the China program manager for Chicago Sister Cities International. She sits on the Chicago Sister Cities International China Committee and on the leadership board of Chicago+Acumen, a local chapter of Acumen.

Originally from Changchun, China, Lisa was raised largely between cultures for more than 20 years in the United States. Her family was the subject of a 2011 full-length documentary named “Mulberry Child,” based off the book Mulberry Child and narrated by Jacqueline Bisset.

Lisa writes for a variety of publications, including the Huffington Post, Asian Fortune and ExpertBeacon. She speaks English, Mandarin, French and fairly poor Spanish.
