Lizzie Garrett is a Los Angeles-based freelance writer who covers everything from politics to pendant lamps. She grew up on the North Shore of Chicago and has been following local elections closely since the age of 15 where she worked in her mother’s first campaign office. Garrett’s mother, State Senator Susan Garrett (D-Lake Forest) is now serving the State of Illinois in her 11th consecutive year as an elected official.

She received a B.A. degree from Occidental College in American History and Studio Art. After interning for W and Los Angeles Magazine, while still in school, Ms. Garrett began her full-time writing career with Bon Appétit where she covered trends, shopping, restaurants and food.

As a freelancer, Garrett has contributed to the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Magazine, Interiors and NorthShore Magazine and Town & Country. She is also the editor of DESIGNwatcher.com, an award-winning daily blog dedicated to home design. Her work is available on her website, www.lizziegarrett.com.
