Mark Schmanko has a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School and is a PhD candidate at Rice University in the Department of Religion, working with historian of religions Jeffrey Kripal and ecophilosopher Timothy Morton. Mark passionately explores the contemporary relevance of religion and spirituality, especially in its existential, artistic and moral dimensions. His current research focuses on American religious history, especially from the 1950s to the present. Mark is a Civic Humanist Mellon Fellow with the Humanities Research Center at Rice University. He has worked in fundraising, trademark licensing and, before that, as a secondary school educator.
