Michael W. R. Davis

Michael W. R. (Mike) Davis is a Royal Oak, Michigan, author, journalist and historian. A Kentucky son, he holds history degrees from Yale and Eastern Michigan universities and has lived in the Detroit area more than 50 years.

He was a staff reporter for the Miami Daily News and Business Week magazine before spending 27 years in corporate public relations. Davis later spent five years as executive director of the Detroit Historical Society.

Over the years, he has contributed hundreds of magazine articles about business subjects, the automobile industry and history, and has been a trustee of the National Automotive History Collection at the Detroit Public Library for more than 15 years. He also was an elected board member of the Detroit Society of Professional Journalists’ chapter for nine years.

In addition, since 1990, Davis has been author, co-author, editor or a major contributor of 11 commercially published non-fiction books. Arcadia Publishing released his latest, The St. Clair River, in July 2011. He currently has five additional books in various stages of development.
