Dr. Michael J. Jenkins is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Scranton. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, completing his dissertation under the mentorship of famed "broken windows" theorist Dr. George Kelling. Dr. Jenkins has worked as a Case Manager for adult parolees and has presented to various venues including, the Africana Institute, the New Jersey Urban Mayors' Association, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Society of Criminology and the Yale Criminal Justice Symposium. His book titled Police Leaders in the New Community Problem-Solving Era (Carolina Academic Press, 2015) explores how some of the nation's top police executives drastically changed the nature of their departments' relationships with the communities they serve. He has also authored Labor Unions, Management Innovation, & Organizational Change in Police Departments (Springer, 2015) and a third book, Policing the World: The Practice of International and Transnational Policing, which will be published in Spring 2017. Dr. Jenkins will be in London, to study with the Metropolitan Police in the Spring of 2017.
