Michele Wucker

Author of THE GRAY RHINO

Michele Wucker (www.wucker.com) is an author and policy analyst who has written widely about sovereign debt and financial crisis, citizenship, immigration, Latin America, and women's leadership. Her third book is The Gray Rhino: How to Recognize and Act on the Obvious Dangers We Ignore (St Martins Press, April 2016). She also is the author of Lockout: Why America Keeps Getting Immigration Wrong When Our Prosperity Depends on Getting It Right and Why the Cocks Fight: Dominicans, Haitians, and the Struggle for Hispaniola. She has been honored as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and a Guggenheim Fellow. In 2015 she founded Gray Rhino & Company to help organizations deal with risks that are neglected despite -or often because of- their size and obviousness. Previously she was Publisher of World Policy Journal and President of the World Policy Institute, which she re-launched in 2007. Other past positions include Vice President for Studies at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Latin America Bureau Chief at International Financing Review. Her writing has appeared in publications around the world including CNN.com, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, she has been a source for major U.S. and international media including MSNBC, Fox News, CNBC, CNN, and National Public Radio. A graduate of Rice University and Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, where she later taught writing, Ms. Wucker grew up in Texas and Wisconsin. After 23 years in New York City, she returned to the Midwest in 2014 and is now based in Chicago.
