Open Society Institute's director of reconstruction efforts in Haiti; Fmr. Haitian Prime Minister

Michèle Pierre-Louis, a civil society leader and an economist, is the Open Society Institute's director of reconstruction efforts in Haiti. Prior to this post, she was the Prime Minister of Haiti until November 2009. Before leaving to become prime minister, she served as executive director of FOKAL, the Open Society Institute's foundation in Haiti, from its establishment in 1995 until 2008. Pierre Louis was born in the southern city of Jeremie, Haiti, and lives in Port-au-Prince.
