Mike Pratt

President and Chief Operating Officer of Best Buy Canada and Future Shop

As the President and Chief Operating Officer of Best Buy Canada and Future Shop, Mike wants to continue bringing the new connected world to consumers across the country.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Best Buy Co Inc., Mike is proud to be leading the Canadian strategy within a successful Fortune 50 global enterprise.

Mike believes that the connected world we find ourselves in today enables consumers to create their own content and experiences through technology. The impact to relationships, education, entertainment and career is an endless source of entertainment and debate.

Mike’s journey with Best Buy Canada began in 1990 when he joined Future Shop as a sales representative after graduating from The University of Western Ontario, where he earned an Honours degree in Economics. He quickly moved up the ranks at Future Shop, holding a variety of senior positions within his first 15 years with the company.

Since being named President & COO in 2008, Mike’s leadership and focus on customer service and experience has fueled the expansion of the Best Buy, Future Shop, Best Buy Mobile and Geek Squad brands across Canada, with more than 200 stores operating coast-to-coast.

Outside of his busy schedule Mike supports a few select charity groups and causes. A member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, he also sits on the Board of Directors for the Retail Council of Canada and likes to keep active and be outdoors as much as possible. A true B.C. waterman, he’s usually found out on his boat with his wife and family whenever he gets the chance.
