Niki Johnson

Artist, educator and organizer

Niki Johnson (b. 1977) is an artist, educator and organizer currently living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Johnson graduated with her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012 and her Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Memphis in 2008. Johnson has gained international recognition for her use of non-traditional materials to create socially conscious artworks, such as Egg Benedict, a portrait of emeritus Pope Benedict out of condoms and A Vision in White, a portrait of Michelle Obama made out of glass. Her work will be on display at the Haggerty Museum of Art, the Bellevue Art Museum, and on CFile through this winter. She currently teaches sculpture at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
