Presidential Inaugural Poet
Richard Blanco is the fifth Presidential Inaugural Poet in U.S. history—the youngest, first Latino, and gay person to serve in such a role. Born in Madrid to Cuban exiled parents, the negotiation of cultural identity and place characterize his three award-winning collections of poetry as well as his recent memoir, The Prince of Los Cocuyos: A Miami Childhood.
