AB cum laude Stanford Univ. 1967, JD Harvard Univ. 1970; organizer of Nader's Raiders in late 1960s, consumer advocate and writer of 8 books and reports on regulatory agencies and consumer issues. 1973-1982 -- white collar crime prosecutor creating the first antitrust unit in an office of district attorney, cross commissioned as an Ass't US Attorney. Holds the Price Chair in Public Interest Law at the University of San Diego School of Law. Started its Center for Public Interest Law in 1980, the Children's Advocacy Institute in 1989 and assisted in the formation of the Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC) in 2007. Author of federal and state legislation, 14 books and 200 articles in the consumer law, public interest and child advocacy subject areas. President of the Board of the National Association of Counsel for Children 2010-12, Chairman of the Board of the Public Citizen Foundation 1994-2010. Appellate litigation in 30 cases, currently appealing the settlement in Fraley v. Facebook before the 9th Circuit involving the privacy rights of teens.
